Luke 10: 38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

This is a story about Mary and Martha, but we also use it today to illustrate the way people are today. Martha was busy serving and she stopped and asked Jesus to tell her sister to help her, but Jesus knew that His teaching and companionship [presence] was more important than cooking and serving food. Jesus told her that Mary had chosen the good part.

It’s very important for us to have physical food, but spiritual food is as important or more so, than physical food. Sometimes we get so busy doing things or stuff in the world that we forget about feeding the spiritual man or we half feed Him, but we aren’t going to forget to feed the physical man.

Jesus pointed out to Martha that spiritual food, especially when coming from Him, was important. One of the most enjoyable times that me and my wife have is to get up and drink coffee and read the Bible together daily. We, or most of us, aren’t going to go a whole day without feeding the physical body. So, let’s not go a day without feeding the spiritual body. If we do feed the spiritual man we will be like Psalm 20: 7-9. We will stand upright in our Father and be risen if we trust our Lord.

That is really part of what is wrong with our country, today. We think that we are going to continue to get the blessings of God when a lot of people have a leave it or take it attitude. We need the good news daily. It is more desirable than rubies and gold because we are going to be here on this earth a few short years and then we are going to face the only judge that matters. The Sovereign Lord of the universe. Now, I know that everyone isn’t called [to the same gifts] but what of us can’t spend a little of our day learning more about our Lord?

Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication and thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

I claim these verses for me and my family as we go through our trial. God is going to keep us as long as we keep our Redeemer in first place. The world of people that don’t know Jesus just think this is all crazy fairy tales but I know that God is real. Because I can pray to my God and He answers me. No, He doesn’t always give me what I want but He always gives me what I need.

Luke 6:27-28 tells us to love our enemies and do good to them that hate you. Bless those that curse you and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Does this sound like a god that hates people? He is love and wants everyone to believe in Him.

Luke 6:35 is also a good verse: “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.”

Luke 9:56 is also a good verse. It says “For the Son of Man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” Jesus doesn’t want to condemn anyone but He wants to give everyone life to the full.

I can tell you from experience and I’m really trying to drive this home so I’m not going to quit saying it:

There is no better high than serving our Lord and being filled with His Holy Spirit [or being in His presence].

When you are in the world the people that you thought were your friends will be gone in a minute, but not the Lord. He will stick closer to you than a brother. He will never leave you nor forsake you. When times are tough for us and it looks like all there is, is darkness, that’s when Jesus shines the brightest. He shows up and shows out for His people. He is not some weak God like the world thinks He is. He is a mighty warrior ready to go to war to save the lost and hurting to give them hope.

So let’s get the word out that the war against the devil and his minions is on and we are going to win because we serve a Living God that loves people and doesn’t want any to go to hell. We all have the Great Commission, now don’t get me wrong, you have to know that the time is right, that the Spirit is leading, and then have no fear about talking about our Jesus.

We love Jesus. He is always to be the main focus of anything that we say or do. he is always the Head. Amen.

God Is Our Father and I Thank Him

Thank You, Father, for waking me this morning and for revealing more of who You are to me, yet again. Especially after the service at church last night where Your presence and Your love was so evident. My thoughts as I woke this morning and turned to You in prayer went something like this:

Would we be happy if our children only came to us whenever they needed something or when they had “messed up,” again? If the only time our children spoke to us it was to give them something that they wanted or needed? Or whenever they had done something wrong and needed for us to fix it for them or clean up their mess? God is our Father. God is not just our judge or taskmaster. Whenever we become saved through His Son, Jesus, we are called His children. We are brought into His kingdom of light, out of the darkness, and into sonship and daughtership with Him. The only words the Lord wants to hear from me are not begging for forgiveness for more mistakes that I have made or begging for those things for which I have a need. God is more than willing to forgive and provide and we don’t have to beg or plead for anything. Also, God already knows that we need Him and that we are not perfect and He knew that we were going to need forgiveness. That is exactly why Jesus came and paid the price for all of our sins once and for all on the cross. We don’t have to miserably beg for forgiveness. We just need to talk to Him like He is our Father and spend time with Him, abide in Christ, and walk with Him. If we did this maybe we wouldn’t fall so much, so often. How many times have we longed for a loving earthly father to talk to but he is miles away at the time, or gone on past this life, or maybe we never had one?  God is always right here with us wanting to talk to us, to hear about our day, to talk about our dreams and our hopes, to lead us, and to guide us. Jesus walks with us every step when we know Him. The Holy Spirit is sealed within us, willing to comfort, remind us of scriptures and promises from the Word, to lead us, and to encourage us. Instead of being stuck thinking that God wouldn’t want to hear from us because we’re too bad or too messed up – we need to get ahold of the fact that He loves us. He sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. He raised Jesus from the dead on that third day with His mighty power and Jesus is alive today at the Father’s right hand and He loves us and He is on our side. He is praying and interceding for us every day. Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit and we are so richly blessed. Thank You Lord, for showing me more of who You are today. I pray that I will spend more time talking to You today and thanking You and loving You – each and every day – and that I will walk and talk with You as Your daughter. I pray that I will encourage others and that I will walk as a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
