From the Wife of a Recovering Alcoholic: A Poem “And I Trust Him”

And I Trust Him

LORD knows I love you so much.

I’m not sure what to do.

But God does.

So I trust Him.

My prayer is for us.

I know GOD is for us.

So I trust Him.

I don’t trust myself

or you.

To know what to do.

But I place all my hope and trust

in Jesus Christ.

The Author and Perfecter

of our faith.

And I trust Him.

Jeremiah 6 and 7 Could These Words Apply to American Christians? Call to Repentance for America?

Jeremiah 6:10-11a

10 To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The Word of the LORD is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it. 11a But I am full of the wrath of the LORD, and I cannot hold it in.

Jeremiah 6:15

“Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,” says the LORD.

Jeremiah 6:19

“Hear, O earth:     I am bringing disaster on this people,

the fruit of their schemes,

because they have not listened to my words

and have rejected my law.”

Jeremiah 6:29-30

29 The bellows blow fiercely to burn away the lead with fire, but the refining goes on in vain; the wicked are not purged out.      30 They are called rejected silver because the LORD has rejected them.

Jeremiah 7:1-15 (False Religion Worthless is the title in my Bible)

v4 Do not trust in deceptive words and say, “This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD.” v5 If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, v6 if you do not oppress the alien, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, v7 then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your forefathers for ever and ever.

v8 But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.

v9 Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury (swear by false gods), burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known, v10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears My Name, and say, “We are safe” – safe to do all these detestable things? v11 Has this house, which bears My Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the LORD.

After reading those verses again as I share them here on the blog… I had handwritten them out when I came across them as I was reading Jeremiah on 8/6-9/14….  I am again hit with the realization that this could be said for us as America. I have studied American Literature in college and part of our reading assignments was to read authors who wrote early sermons from our history. Yes, America’s earliest authors were Puritans and Christians and men of God who felt led to come here to start a better life for their families. This land of America was a place where religious freedom would allow them to serve God in the way that they felt was true to His Word. This land was claimed for God by the first ones who came here to begin a new life with freedom for all men to pursue God without a king or a church forcing them to do it in a way that only benefited the ones doing the forcing…..

What I am getting at is that this country was founded upon Biblical principles and values by men and women of God. For me, I see America as nation for God just like Israel was and is a nation for God. Israel, at times, became complacent and downright rebellious towards the LORD and He punished them and then wooed them back to His side. America has done the same.

In this land of prosperity we have become greedy, full of pride and lust, full of injustice, murderous, turning away from the LORD and taking His Word out of every facet of the government and even our lives, addicted to anything and everything and we see evil strutting freely in the streets. Can anyone really believe that by turning our hearts and our children in the schools and everywhere else we turn – away from God – that we are better off today than we were before? Rises in crime, increases in poverty, decreases in jobs, more depression and anxiety, increases in prescription pain and anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications and less love for one another in general are not indicators that removing God from our lives is working.

With worldwide increase in man’s knowledge, scientific and technological advances, more understanding of how the human brain and body function, more knowledge of the universe and the minute atom, a multitude of behavior and sociological studies there is no end in poverty, no end in crime and no increase in love. As a matter of fact we see a return to barbarianism where in the name of religion there are those who are actually taking up blades of steel and beheading children – and much more…..

Is the answer to shun God and to turn away from Him? Has the answer been to deny that God exists? NO!

The same lie offered in the Garden of Eden has been perpetuated through the ages… did God really say?

Friends, we will face sure judgment if we do not repent. It is clear in God’s Word that if we humble ourselves and turn to Him and confess our wicked ways and turn from them – that He will hear from heaven, heal our land and forgive us. II Chronicles 7:14. Let us examine our hearts against the Word of God and ask Him to forgive us through the shed blood of Jesus, today. Let us confess with our mouths that Jesus is LORD and that He is risen from the grave. Let us turn to the LORD before judgment comes and not during or after… but even so… He accepts those that come at the 11th hour just as those who come at the 1st… so do not forget, TODAY is the day of salvation so do not harden your hearts to what you have heard, but rather accept Him, today…

(not meant to be a great piece of writing but sharing a great piece from my heart!) God bless you!

Why Do We Want to Serve God? By Jerry 9/7/14

Why Do We Want to Serve God? By Jerry 9/7/14

This is a question that I have asked myself when I was lost and even after I got saved. I particularly wrestle with this question when things aren’t going my way as a Christian.

We, or me, I always want to ask God “why.” Don’t get me wrong I am far from perfect and anyone that knows me could tell you that. But I get up when I fall and ask God why did this happen to me when I am doing my best to serve You?

As I mature as a Christian and look back on my fails, falls and stumbles I see that it was me that failed not God. It’s hard to serve God because we think that we are giving up our life to follow a strict set of rules and we think that there’s no way that I can be perfect like those church people. I’ll be a big failure and a hypocrite and they’ll laugh me out of the church if they ever find out half of what I’ve done.

I thought like that for many years but once I turned my life over to God and started reading His Word and got closer to Him, and even after going to church regularly for the past 4 years, I can tell you that yes you do meet some people like that – not only at church but anywhere you go. The thing is we go to church to fellowship with Jesus, so I pay no attention to those people. But then you meet other people who are brothers and sisters in Jesus there that are in the same boat you are in or even worse – and you start sharing your story with each other and what God has done for you and start serving the Lord together.

You’ll find as I did that it starts getting easier. Really serving God comes down to love. Jesus said that the 2 greatest commands in the Bible were Matthew 22:37-40. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Laws and Prophets depend on these two commands.”

What is it about this life that we love more than we love God? We on this planet are going to have and know pain and suffering with or without God and I would rather go through it with God than without Him. We are His children and He knows what is and isn’t best for us. Like I said I am not perfect and never will be but I/we can’t use that as an excuse not to love God after what He suffered for us. Jesus, our Savior, asked the Father to let the cup of wrath that we deserve not to be poured out on Him but God the Father knew there was not another way. So Jesus took it for you and me and the whole world.

I would just ask you to do one thing give Jesus a chance. Ask Him into your heart right now. Jesus is willing to start with you right where you are. Don’t worry about being perfect or trying to follow all the rules, just ask Jesus into your heart, repent of your sins and believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He willingly died for you and let Him start changing you. He is the author and finisher of our faith.

Who Are You? (Jerry 3/26/14)

Who are you? Are you a banker, lawyer, landscaper, stay at home mom? Are you who you are because the world says that is who you are? It’s really not important who we are in the world but who we are in Christ. Would our co-workers know that we follow Christ if we didn’t tell them?

Who was Christ? The religious leaders thought that He was just an unclean, nobody who was casting out demons by the power of Beezlebub. It doesn’t matter if you are the richest person in the world. If you don’t have Jesus then you have nothing. “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?” What does matter is that we know Christ and walk according to His ways. If we have Christ we have everything.

What do we do after Christ has made us new and forgiven us for our sins? Do we just come to church and listen to the preacher until we die? I know that everyone is not called into the ministry and when I say ministry, I am talking about being a preacher, teacher, evangelist. But when we were forgiven of our sins through Christ we were called into the ministry whether we want to be or not. We can minister to those we work around. We can let our life be a testimony. We aren’t to sit idly by and be ashamed to be a child of the Most High God, Creator of the universe. We walk the walk and talk the talk on a daily basis. That’s how we are ministers. A lot of people are scared or worried about being ambassadors of Christ because they think that they have to be perfect. If we wait until we’re perfect to tell people about Jesus then it’s never going to happen.

I Hurt and Jesus Hurts

This is what I know.

It’s not about me. It’s all about JESUS. And thank You LORD that is so.

I hurt. Jesus hurts with me and for me. But my hurt is nothing compared to HIS HURT. Let me put my hurt in perspective:

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

You know what? We have each have to choose our own way. Whether we remain like a lost sheep wandering around, alone, cold, afraid – or we accept the love of Jesus and turn to Him.

We each have gone astray. The choice is up to each of us. To stray or not to stray from our Shepherd who loves us and who laid down His life for us and then took it back up for us, seated at the Father’s right hand, interceding for us. Only if we turn to Him and accept Him. I want to never stray or rebel against Him again. My own way leads me to death and destruction.

As for me – I can only choose for me and how I love and raise my children – I choose Jesus. And I am so in need of saving. Every moment. I am in need of my Savior Jesus. And I can only walk in His strength, His might, His righteousness. Nothing of myself gives me anything to move forward in life. Nothing of myself or of this world gives me any peace or joy or strength to carry on. In Christ alone do I find my strength, a voice, a purpose – a reason to live.

And you know what else? He took the punishment for my peace, for my forgiveness, for my conscience to be clear to approach the throne and ask for anything at all. He took the beating, the piercings of the thorns and the metal spikes that broke his skin, caused him pain and made Him bleed…. all for me and for my peace and my healing. I gotta walk in that! That is the truth! He has set us free! He died for me! He purchased my salvation with His own suffering and shame. What a loving Savior. I gotta walk in this truth. Will you walk in it with me?

God bless and keep us. I love you. Jesus loves you more importantly. You are loved by a wonderful Savior. Let us all walk in His love. ❤
