Exciting News for 2fools4Christ

Our Lord has really been making things happen. He is always at work whether we see it or not. We can believe that He is perfecting all there is concerning us and take great peace in knowing that He is all He says He is! (Psalms 138:8 and Philippians 1:6)

We have not given an update in quite a while. There have been a lot of things happening!

We were able to take in my great-nephew almost a year and a half, ago. He just turned 2 years old and is doing very well. His parents are also doing well, both are in long-term, residential recovery programs.

I have been doing a lot of volunteer work with various ministries and individuals with publications and marketing, as well as serving on a team with Kairos Outside of North Alabama. About a year ago, I began helping others to publish their books with KDP, where they could sell them on and tons of other distributions as e-books and paperbacks. I self-published my own books, too. I felt led to start a business called PS95 PRESS to be able to help bring income into our house so we can be more of a blessing to others, get out of debt eventually, and get a bigger house. Everything has not come full circle just yet, but I am trusting in God’s timing and His love to lead us onward and upward for His glory.

Jerry has been self-employed for the past couple of years doing landscaping and working as a mobile mechanic. As his faith and confidence in the Lord are growing, he has been working more for himself as a mobile mechanic instead of being contracted as a landscape laborer. He does love to work outside and do landscaping, but he loves to work on cars and help other people more. He finally has been focused on the mobile mechanic business in the past few months and has seen a big increase in repeat and new customers. We both know that it is all because of our Lord and His hand on our lives. We could do nothing without Him but with Him we can do all He has called us to do. He sends customers and business just at the right times and He sends customers who need us as well as those who are a blessing to us. Sometimes Jerry gives people a big break just because he knows they need it. Other times, people pay him above what he asks, and you know that is God’s favor! I am also grateful to see that even though there have been a few that have tried to take advantage, that God reminds us that He rewards us for our labor, and we have been at peace and have been provided for, even when some have not paid. I am thankful to not speak ill of them or seek any revenge, but to have the Lord’s peace in these times and His heart of love is an indescribable joy that cannot be explained. Like I said, most of the time, we are blessed and are able to be a blessing and even when it may not seem like it every once in a while, we can go by what we know and not what we see in that moment.

Most of all, I want to tell you that God is faithful and He has been continually working in us to grow our faith and mold us more into His character. Of course we make mistakes every day, but I thank the Lord that instead of beating us down, He lifts us up by forgiving us, and teaching us. I have learned to seek His face early, every morning, over the past few years. He never fails to encourage me and to remind me of His love. He reminds me to tell the enemy to shut up and be silent because he has no power over me. The Lord gently reminds me to use soft words during the day and trust Him. When I blow it and yell at the kids or get frustrated, He is so sweet to remind me that He does not treat me that way and then He gives me another chance to learn and practice His will. He reminds me that I don’t have to be frustrated because I know that He is going to work all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. He reminds me of all the times that I messed up, but He made it right. He reminds me of the times when I thought all was lost, but He made a way and showed me the way. His faithfulness is on full display in my life. No, I am not always faithful even though I want to be and wish that I was with all that I am. But, His faithfulness can be seen because He is the one who sustains us. We would not be here, still today, married and happy with three beautiful, intelligent, smiling children if it were not for Jesus!

Snooze Button Lesson – Dec. 1

I didn’t want to wake up this morning. I actually had an alarm set and I kept hitting the snooze button. There is a “dismiss” button for the real alarm and i was not willing to totally dismiss the alarm. But I was willing to risk oversleeping by hitting the snooze button in my “stupor” and not realizing how late it was getting.

At some point, I realized just how many times I had hit snooze and began to really wake up. That is when I felt like the Lord showed me something.

A lot of us have been that way with Him. We have not been willing to totally dismiss a relationship with Jesus. We have been willing at times or up until now, to just know Him enough to snooze through some of the spiritual battle that we are in. We want to snooze through going deeper in our faith walk with Him. There are days, like today, that I didn’t want to wake up and seek His face just yet. I was thinking, “Just a few more minutes of sleep, Lord.” But I also know that if I miss prayer and spending time in the Word and listening for His voice before I start my day with my family, that I usually end up frustrated in some way or grouchier or never get back to that sweet time with the Lord and I miss out on special time with my Father in Christ and by His Spirit. Yes, I can still pray and be in His presence, but there is something about not hitting snooze on our relationship and taking the time to go deeper with Him.

The example goes for daily quiet time and for our entire relationship with our Father through Jesus, our Lord. I think I would have snoozed on through for all of my life and missed out on the real deal salvation if I had not become desperate for solutions and an end to my afflictions and troubles. I am glad for the trials that brought me out of snooze mode! How about you?

13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:13-17)

God’s Not Dead! How the Movie Affected 2fools4Christ

Jerry and I, Angela, went to see the movie “God’s Not Dead” with family. We never get to go to the movies, but we made an exception to be able to go and see this movie. We don’t even watch TV anymore because of all of the negative and outright sinful things that are on television, now. Also, what shows that we did find acceptable became a hindrance due to taking up so much time just zoning out in front of the TV. When we saw the trailer for the movie “God’s Not Dead” we knew that we wanted to go and see this and experience it for ourselves firsthand.

Jerry’s review [written from jail]: “What I Thought about God’s Not Dead” (somewhat of a spoiler alert)

First, I would like to say that it was very inspiring to me. I mean, if we think about it, what would it have really mattered if he had written God’s Dead on a piece of paper. If we are honest – what would we have done if faced with the same situation before we saw the movie?

As a mature Christian, I would not sign it, but for a young man to be that young and mature was truly inspiring and it didn’t come without cost. His classmates were upset because they had to read an extra book because of him and he lost his girlfriend. The professor really thought that he had the upper hand and maybe he did for a minute, but in the end, our God showed up and showed out as only our God can do.

Don’t get me wrong, I know where the professor was coming from because I lost my mother when I was 10 and I spent a lot of my life being angry at God. But God loved that professor right up to the end and let him come in at the eleventh hour. That’s how awesome our God is. I mean, the man went through his whole life hating God and all the while God loved Him and wanted him to come and be with Him for eternity. That’s the kind of God we serve. He wants to save all of us from a devil’s hell. And the young lady that had cancer, God didn’t give her cancer, but I bet He is more than willing to heal her.

We as a human race are fallen beings and no matter how much we don’t accept it, we or some of us are going to die before the world thinks that we should. Even if we are Christians we are not all going to die of old age. But, if we are Christians, we are going to wake up on the other side in far better shape than we were on this side. Amen. (written on 4/21/14 by Jerry Dingler and added to this blog post by Angela Dingler on 5/7/14)

Angela’s review:

We were not disappointed at all! The movie is great! We laughed and we cried and there were so many elements of the movie that are true to life. I have been going to a local community college and taking classes online. There is so much anti-God material being taught in the schools, now. I was kind of shocked to see the way that our schools are blatantly calling God and religion either outdated, untrue, or just made up by mankind to rule others. I must also say that even in this environment that there are also several other classes where God is acknowledged as real and sovereign and our Creator. So, while I have encountered the adversary at work in my college classes, I have also seen God’s hand at work there and being acknowledged!

The movie also showed how there are no coincidences and that is something that we firmly believe. God is all about working everything out for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose. Sometimes we have no idea all of the things that God is doing on our behalf that is unseen and behind the scenes. Just like this movie portrays, our lives each touch other lives and sometimes we may never know how our connection to another person encourages them or helps them. On the flip side, our sin also touches others lives in harmful ways and sometimes we don’t see how that plays out. This movie is a good reminder of how our lives do touch so many other’s lives.

I would like to make mention of one thing that has been brought up by non-believers who have criticism for the movie. Some say that the characters are too stereotyped and that the movie portrays all non-believers as angry, bitter, full of hate and cold. Also, they say that the movie portrays them as being emotionally hurt in their past and that is what drives their non-belief. One other criticism is that the character with cancer only turns to God because she doesn’t want to die. Listen, I would like to point out that this is a movie. This is a movie that is for entertainment and also to show that  God is alive. This is not a movie to explain or portray to an exact extent how people are and why they believe the way that they do. Also, this movie is based on real cases where students have had to make a choice between following their religious beliefs or failing a class or being silenced on campus. The examples used in the movie may be based on stereotypes to get across broad examples of how people do believe and act in real life in order to show how God can and will work in the situations portrayed. Critics will always have criticisms. The movie is great and does what it was made to do. Inspire believers to speak up and contend for the faith!

Our main reaction to this movie is that we chose to also contend for our faith. We invite you to do the same! This movie did really motivate us to share our faith and faith journey – how we are working out our salvation with fear and trembling. We were so inspired that we wanted to have a “faith rally” in the park, immediately. We felt like we should be taking our faith and sharing it corporately outside of the church walls, too. All of these ideas are in the works and this blog is one way that we felt led to begin sharing our faith and belief in God and Jesus, His Son. We would love to come and sing and speak if you have an idea for a gathering of people or a church. Contact us for more information.

If you have not seen the movie, go ahead, you will enjoy it. If you don’t know Jesus, then maybe this movie will open your heart to Him. All in all, the movie is just a movie. God’s Word, His Holy Spirit, the Father and Jesus – He is who is important and who you need to know in order to be made whole. God bless you!
