Jerry from Jail on 4/25/14 Writes: “Random Thoughts and Ramblings for My Lord Jesus Christ”

I Peter 2:-10 (ESV) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people, once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

A lot of people that are Christians, myself included, need to remember this verse each and every day. It is easy to walk with our Lord when we are around other Christian people. But, when we are around people that aren’t after God’s heart is when the real test comes into play.

I am in jail and have talked to just about everyone in here and they say, “Yes, I am a Christ-follower,” but then don’t act like it. If we follow Christ we should follow His ways and not the ways of the world. We’re never going to be perfect but I don’t think we’re supposed to act like “worldly” people.

That’s why we need to remember that we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession. That does not mean that we are better than anybody. Our actions speak louder than words. If you tell someone that you are a Christ follower and they aren’t, they will start watching you to see how you live. If we are a possession of our Father and our actions and our words match up, they will see Jesus in us and see that we are different and it will make some people want to have what we have and that is Jesus!

Our life is our testimony and that is the way that I’m going to live – like Jesus is in me because He is – and my life that is filled by Jesus should make others want to have a relationship with Him! If we confess Jesus before men, He will confess us before the Father! We are not weak-kneed Christian brothers and sisters – was our Jesus weak when He took the stripes for our healing, when He was nailed to the cross for our sins? Let’s all stand up with a mighty shout and say, “I am a Christ follower and with my Jesus walking with me the gates of hell are not going to prevail against me/us!”

We are in the world but not of the world. The world is perishing along with the ones who desire it more than they desire Jesus. Do we want to spend our years on earth chasing earthly desires that are perishing or do we want to set our hearts on eternal things, like our Jesus?

Choose today whom you will serve! As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!”
