Hang on in the Struggle

Hang on in the Struggle

I made a video and this post because I have been repeatedly taught lessons over and over again by the LORD, because I do not get it and have it stick with me very well. A lot of times, I take what the LORD is teaching me too lightly. Other times, He is breaking such ingrained bad habits and removing such old hurts and fears that it takes time for me to accept what He is doing. It sometimes takes a while for me to understand that He is removing a burden from me that I do not have to carry. I think that I have to do it the old way and forget that He is God, He is in control, He is good and I really really do want to trust Him and Him alone. Does anyone else have this problem? lol 🙂

What I really learned, again, is that God is relating with ME. He is teaching ME. I am my own problem. The struggles that I go through are not because someone else did this or that or reacted to me in such and such a way. Yes, those things may play a role in what I do go through – but God allows things to happen in our lives in order to teach us and to grow us and to refine our faith. He wants to take us deeper and deeper into who He is and who we are to Him. When something happens and I do not listen to Him and trust Him, I am opening the door to something that I do not want to go through. I am giving room for problems to get bigger. Instead, if I will listen to Him willingly and joyfully, then I can get through on firmer ground.

The other side is that even when I do mess it all up – as soon as I hear His voice and gentle reminder – and turn to Him and recognize what is going on and agree that I do need to change in an area – like giving Him control and just walking on faith and doing as He urges me to do – then He does come through and give me peace and assurance and He even overrides my mistakes and protects me and defends me and delivers me.

So, even if you notice that you are beginning to doubt – call on Him in faith and know that He will carry you through. Stand on His promises. Know the Word and stand in the Word. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. He promises to finish the good work that He began in us. He promises to take us from strength to strength. He promises to save us from all of our troubles. When we know Him and His Word we can stand in the tests and trials and the storms and know that we do not have to fear. He will give us courage. He will release us from all strongholds and snares. God is the One who works in us to will and to act according to His good purposes.

Please reach out to a fellow believer – even me or Jerry – if you are going through a trial, struggle, test, tribulation or storm. God is with you and He is for you! Do not walk alone. He has given us each other as well, to know that we are not alone.

I hope that you receive a blessing from the sharing of God’s Word and my testimony of His faithfulness.

Psalm 84:7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
Ephesians 6:The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Joshua 1:5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

  1. The Bible says that the Lord disciplines those He loves at least 3 times, and it’s found in Old Testament and New. So if God is taking you through something (something that isn’t of your own doing) then He loves you. God is about refining us to make us more like His son.

    1. Thank you Rob, for that good word 🙂 You are exactly right. If we go through any struggle, trial or storm as a believer in Christ, we know that there is some good in it for us on the other side. Even if we are being disciplined it is a huge blessing because God doesn’t leave us to our own destructive ways. He grows us and takes us beyond ourselves. Here is a Scripture reference from the New Testament that backs up your comment: Hebrews 12:4-6 (NIV)

      God Disciplines His Children
4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
We can rest assured that God loves us and He is growing us up into maturity into Christ, who is the head.
