Is it fair that God asks us to lay down our life?
God doesn’t ask us to do anything that He Himself was not willing to do. He came to earth, put on flesh and walked among us, lived a life of 100% love, lived a life 100% set apart and pure in heart, rejected the lies of the devil, refused the things of this world, kept His eyes set on the eternal prize, and LAID DOWN HIS OWN WILL, LAID DOWN HIS OWN LIFE,
He did this by choice. He did this for us. And He did this so that we can KNOW Him even though we are still in the flesh and still do not understand and still continue to live in a way that is not pure in heart, loving and set apart… even though we still want things of this world sometimes and fall into believing lies from the enemy… God came in the flesh, Jesus Christ walked with us and taught us of love, and all so that we can share in knowing the unfathomable love of our Father and so that we can realize that we are meant for more than what this world has to offer!
Philippians 2:6-8 New International Version (NIV)
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
