I just noticed something and really put 2 and 2 together. I read an article on ChristianityToday.com by Derwin L. Gray that is entitled “How to Hold on When Everything Is Coming Apart” about holding on to Jesus in impossible circumstances. I agreed with everything it said about how God brings us through things to mold and shape us – that He is the Potter and at times, in the midst of these trials it may seem as if God is silent, but that He is with us and His grace is at work for us behind the scenes (doing more than we can even ask or imagine). The author quoted Romans 8:28 and 29.
Yes, God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him and who have been called according to His good purpose! And v29 says that those whom God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Put it together – God works in all things for the good of us because He:
- knew us before we were born
- set our destiny before we were born
to be conformed into the likeness of Jesus!
that Jesus would be the firstborn among us so that we could then be multiples of Jesus – duplicates of Jesus – God’s children with Jesus as our big brother! How awesome and cool is that?!
And Romans 8:30 goes on to say that not only are we destined, but we are also called by God
and not only are we called by God, but we are also justified by God! We are justified by God by the blood of Jesus, by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus –
and not only are we called and justified by God, but Romans 8:30 goes on to say that we be glorified like Jesus!
Romans 8:30 And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.
Soak this up and let this sink in and reflect:
When we live as Christ by His power, strength, righteousness and His Spirit – God will glorify us – show His glory through us – do we feel like we are glorified? like we are glorifying God? Can we see God’s glory manifested in us? If not – why not?
This is our calling. This is our birthright as believers in Jesus Christ.
God says He will take us from glory to glory – from strength to strength –
if this has not been our testimony – now is the time – let us begin right now to learn from our Lord and start taking those baby steps of faith that He starts us out on so that we do see His glory in our lives.
Our destiny is to shine for the Lord. Our destiny is to glorify the Lord. God has set our destiny for Him to glorify us in Christ Jesus so that the world may know that He is God, that He is love and that He is good. Praise You Lord!
