We have not added any new posts lately to the blog and I feel really sad about that in a way! The only reason that I am not sad about that is that we have been really busy with a huge blessing and responsibility. We have felt led to share our testimony with others and Jerry has also felt led to start a Bible study outside of our home. Recently, we had contacted a sweet sister in Christ who said that she had a small church in her family that her grandfather built in the 1930’s. She said that the little church had not held services for the past 5 years and that she would love for someone to use it again for the Lord. Jerry told me to write to her and ask her if she would be willing to rent it to us. We met with her a few weeks later. We have been praying for the Lord to show us the next step and for the past year, Jerry was telling me that the Lord would open the right door when He was ready and He felt that we were ready. So, after praying about it and receiving various confirmations from the Lord, we stepped out in faith and started having services at the little church.
Now, Bro. Jerry and I are worshiping at the little church that we felt led to call “The King’s House.” We have had only a few that are coming to the meetings but each time the Holy Spirit has led our fellowship and worship and the messages that Jerry is sharing from his heart that the Lord lays on him to share. There are times when we know the Lord is speaking directly to me and Jerry – as there have been a couple of times that we were the only ones there, too. LOL Our meetings and those that have attended with us have been blessed with the Lord’s presence. There have been some amazing testimonies of the Lord’s work and power in our lives that have been shared.
We feel led to have this little church just be like a visit to a living room where brothers and sisters in Christ are worshiping, praying, having fellowship with one another, learning and growing in Jesus and His love, together. We pray that the Holy Spirit is in charge every time that we meet there. Sometimes it is like a church service in that we do pray together, we sing together and Bro. Jerry gets up behind a pulpit and shares. At times we have just met and prayed and shared with each other about what God is doing or has done in our lives and what we are learning at the moment. Every time we meet we welcome the Holy Spirit to lead the gathering and Bro. Jerry encourages anyone who wants to share, give a testimony, ask a question, sing or pray to do so.
In the beginning we were unsure of how long this would go on. Like, we really still do not know exactly what the Lord is doing with us at this time and in this place. But, we do know that He is with us and He is leading us and so we trust that He is preparing us for more of His work in building the kingdom and sharing the gospel. We don’t know how long we will be meeting at The King’s House for sure, but we know that we feel like it will be at least a few months. We are really just praying to continue to be led by the Lord and that He continues to work in us to will and to act according to His good purposes.
I have been able to video several of the messages that Bro. Jerry has shared and I will be sharing them here on the blog under the category: “The King’s House” It does take a little time to convert the videos and get them uploaded. I pray that I get better at all of that.
Also, we are going to be holding Celebrate Recovery meetings on Thursday evenings and we have had great response to that announcement. We believe that the Lord is going to do mighty and glorious works with the Holy Spirit through His people at these meetings, as well. Thanks to a dear brother and sister in Christ that have known us and have seen us through all the good, the bad and the ugly for the past ten years, we have a leadership package for the Celebrate Recovery program and the guides for working through the steps.
Another great development is our involvement in a group on Facebook that is called Alabama Christian Family Praying and Providing. Melanie Pruitt and Brittney Lowe started this group earlier this year and it has grown into the group that it is currently named and has over 3000 members. Melanie found Jerry and I in an ad that we had placed on Craigslist for sharing our testimony. She asked for me to be a member and an administrator for the group to help spread the Word of God, pray for others and share our testimony. Jerry is not as involved as I am in the group but he does support them with prayer and keeps up through me. 🙂 God definitely has His hand on this group and there are many prayers and lives being changed through the love of Jesus being expressed there. Also, there are needs for food, clothing, electricity and Christmas being met through the group, too, as the Lord leads and provides.
An unexpected miracle that I was able to participate in that is related to ACFPnP is that we were asked to be on a local radio talk show program, Priority Talk. We were invited to come on air and talk about how the group got started, how it works and what the goals of the group are. Melanie was going to go, but she had to work and asked for me to be the spokesperson for the group. Wow, that was such an honor. I prayed so hard about saying the right things to honor and glorify the Lord and to make sure that the group message was presented clearly. That morning the Lord gave me a verse and it was right on time! It is so like Him to bless us that way 🙂 (I Corinthians 1:5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—) I claimed that verse and thanked the Lord for giving it to me. When I got to the radio station, I was pretty nervous, but I felt really calm considering that I had never done anything like that before then. According to everyone that listened and the host, the interview went really well. I know that I didn’t seem to stutter around and feel like an idiot like I usually do when I talk to people that I don’t know and in stressful situations. So I give God all the glory!!!
The last part of this update is about Jerry and court… our next date is in December. We are still just trusting the Lord. There is a reason that He intervened and that this has been delayed and going on since November 2013. It will have been over a year since Jerry was charged with “under the influence.” We have not released every detail due to Jerry suffering injuries and a concussion and amnesia and uncertainty of even being charged and then relying on the city’s public defender. This case is so unclear and there is so much that is not known to us. We did hire an attorney after Jerry got a job back in June. The attorney feels strongly that this case should be dismissed or that Jerry should be found not guilty even if we have to appeal to the county -finally after the lab results come back. We will do our best to keep updating and writing for this blog in the meantime. And as always, we welcome questions!!! If we have left things out, it is unintentional. We would love to hear from you! We welcome the chance to share everything that we are going through!
Also, as Jerry’s wife, I am so glad to see how the Lord is moving in our family and in Jerry. There has been miraculous deliverance through the Lord and in His name and so much more freedom and peace in our home. I am so thankful for all that the Lord has done, is doing and will do! Jerry and I both are more grateful than ever before in our lives to the Lord and are actually really only beginning to understand a smidgen of His goodness. He blows our minds with His love!
We pray that you also come to the point where your mind is blown by the length, the breadth, width and the height of God’s love through His Son Jesus Christ and experience the filling of the Holy Spirit and that you are rooted and firmly grounded in this love of Jesus!! So that your joy may be full! And that you may be whole and complete and lack nothing! In the name of Jesus, amen….
