God Makes Us Stand Firm in Christ

Romans 14

The Weak and the Strong

14:1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

Notice in Romans 14:3 that God is the one who accepts our worship and who knows our hearts. In verse 4, we see that God is our Master and unto Him we will either stand or fall. To God, our Master, we will either stand or fall. And the Good News is that WE WILL STAND FOR THE LORD IS ABLE TO MAKE US STAND!

Have you wondered about if you will stand or fall? Look at what verse 4 says: “And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.” I believe that means that He is willing to make us stand, as well. We may stumble but we will not fall. Our Lord will uphold us.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Do not fear! Trust in the Lord with all of your heart even when it does not look like this is true. If you have struggled recently with something, or someone that you know who loves the Lord is struggling with something, pray for forgiveness (for yourself or the one struggling) and thank the Lord that He is the Master and that He is the One who will make us and them stand! Thank the Lord that we are not the master of ourselves or others and that we don’t have to worry about us or try to control every situation or others or make us stand because He knows us best and He is willing and able to make us stand!

I have relied on this passage and this verse for healing in my own life and in my family. I have so much more freedom from worry and anxiety in Christ because I have learned and am learning to trust Him for my salvation and sanctification and that He is doing that in those around me who I love dearly and know that they love Him. Sometimes the picture we see is not what we think that it should be. But praise the Lord that He sees the BIG picture and He knows where He is taking each one of us in our journey to help build His kingdom.

Philippians 2:12b-13 tells us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling for it is God Himself who works in us to have the desire and the will to do the things that please Him and that are according to His plan and purpose. Let us trust this for this is a promise from God’s Word that He is in control and that He is at work in us. If we will daily keep our hearts turned to Him as our Source of strength and help and trust/put our faith in Him to make us who we were created to be and to fulfill our God-given destiny, then He is going to make us stand and He is going to fulfill His plan for our lives.

Also, let us continually praise His Holy Name and pray with the filling of the Holy Spirit and welcome His ministry in our hearts and lives.

Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

God bless and keep us in the name of Jesus 🙂 ❤

This blog is for anyone who wants to know more about Jesus and His love and how faith in Him plays out in real life application. Hello, we are Jerry and Angela and we are two fools for Christ. We have decided to make our lives totally surrendered to Jesus in response to His love and His gift of salvation. We are in our early 40′s and we have two children together and [Angela has] an older daughter that is now an adult. We have been married to each other for going on ten years. We surrendered our lives to the Lord together in 2010 and have been growing in that relationship with Him and each other since that time. We both accepted salvation and made professions of faith earlier in our lives, but did not make Him Lord and Savior until 2010. At that time we realized that trying to walk in our own strength and our own ways was useless and empty and had led us to another rock bottom experience. We humbly turned our lives over to Jesus and have been seeking Him with all that we are ever since. That does not mean that we have become perfect. That does not mean that we have not sinned again. That does not mean that we have not had trouble or trials or storms since that time. What this means is that we are growing, we are learning, we are becoming more loving and compassionate and forgiving. We want to share our faith with our readers. We want to share our growth process and transformation with you. We wish to encourage you and lift you.
