I know that I have said or thought it a thousand times. Usually it’s after I have done something stupid. But since I have come to know Christ as my personal Savior there really are no more what ifs. It’s not because I don’t mess up or make mistakes but it is because I have Jesus in my heart and that He loves me even when I make mistakes so there is no reason for the “what if’s.”
Proverbs 18:24 says a man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. That Friend is Jesus.
John 15:13-14 says no one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. Now don’t get me wrong. When we meet Jesus wherever we are in our life at that particular time is when He starts working in us right there. Nothing, even if we think we are leading the perfect life is ever good enough for God without the blood of Jesus covering our sins. But JESUS is the answer.
After we have turned our life over to Jesus and we mess up again, Jesus doesn’t say, “Oh, no! I can’t believe you did this again! Haven’t you learned anything?” No. He calls out to us again because He is the Good Shepherd and we hear His voice and know that we belong to Him. He just wants to love us and He wants us to love ourselves.
Romans 8:1 Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus. So we go back to the Shepherd and He picks us up, puts us on His shoulders and carries us back to the flock. So no more what ifs.
If you mess up let it be a learning and growing experience and move on with Jesus. Let’s forgive our self and keep walking with the Good Shepherd.
Romans 10:11-13 Now the Scripture says: Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame, for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL be saved.
No more what if I’m saved? I’ve messed up so much and don’t know. Refer back to Romans 10:11-13. That answers the question! But what if the world ends tomorrow? Let’s not worry about anymore what if’s in our lives. Matthew 6:34 Jesus says, “Therefore, don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
God bless us each one.
