Released from Jail – Jerry Writes on May 10, 2014

I got released from jail yesterday and I’m going to do what my Lord wants me to do. Psalm 39:5 tells how fleeting this life is so we need to be about our Father’s work and forsake the worldly desires. Psalm 40:2 tells how Jesus has lifted me out of the slimy pit and set my feet on a Rock. That’s what our Lord wants to do for all of us.

Yesterday, when I did go to court all of the people involved in my case were acting surprised that I was in jail when I had not been convicted. I could really be bitter and say that I had been locked up for the last 3 1/2 weeks for nothing. But, I know that my God is in control and nothing happens without a reason. God did have a purpose for me being in there. I don’t know, may never know, why I was in there but I know that God is good.

I could even say it wasn’t fair, but as I sit here reading Matthew this morning and thinking about what Jesus went through for me – was that fair? Anyway, I was reading  Ephesians 1:17 and found this verse that I pray that all of us as Christians desire because I have learned especially in the last 3 1/2 week that the more we pray and read the Bible and get deeper into God – the more of Himself that He does reveal to us.

Psalm 46:1-3 While I was in jail I really came to the realization that God is more than enough for me in any trial that I will ever go through. It took me years to realize how good my God is. Once we get hold of that simple truth we are changed forever. Let’s lean on God for everything we need and for protection because He is more than enough.

In Matthew 10:30 Jesus tells His disciples that God had the hairs on their heads numbered. We serve a God that knows everything about us but He still loves us even when we are unlovable. He wants us, He wants us to acknowledge Him before men and He will acknowledge us before the Father. He goes on in the chapter telling us that He has got to be # 1. We cannot love anything on this earth more than we love Jesus. If we do, it is an idol, or false god. He also says in the same chapter that we must take up our cross and follow Him. If we really think about that, we realize that Jesus is telling us that following Him is a daily struggle, but it is a struggle that is worth it. We are going to struggle against the flesh, its wants and desires, but if we keep our eye on Jesus we know that everything that we are going through is worth it.

It also tells us in Matthew 10 that if we are telling someone about Jesus and they don’t accept Him, they aren’t rejecting us, but Jesus. So, let us share our faith and our love for God with holy boldness and not fear.

This blog is for anyone who wants to know more about Jesus and His love and how faith in Him plays out in real life application. Hello, we are Jerry and Angela and we are two fools for Christ. We have decided to make our lives totally surrendered to Jesus in response to His love and His gift of salvation. We are in our early 40′s and we have two children together and [Angela has] an older daughter that is now an adult. We have been married to each other for going on ten years. We surrendered our lives to the Lord together in 2010 and have been growing in that relationship with Him and each other since that time. We both accepted salvation and made professions of faith earlier in our lives, but did not make Him Lord and Savior until 2010. At that time we realized that trying to walk in our own strength and our own ways was useless and empty and had led us to another rock bottom experience. We humbly turned our lives over to Jesus and have been seeking Him with all that we are ever since. That does not mean that we have become perfect. That does not mean that we have not sinned again. That does not mean that we have not had trouble or trials or storms since that time. What this means is that we are growing, we are learning, we are becoming more loving and compassionate and forgiving. We want to share our faith with our readers. We want to share our growth process and transformation with you. We wish to encourage you and lift you.
